Throw the ball against the wall and then catch it. They repeat this and see how many times they can catch the ball without dropping it in one minute. If they drop the ball then they will need to start that attempt again. They can try it a number of times to see if they can improve their score. Then they should ask a grown-up to take a video of their best attempt or a photo of them throwing the ball and then send the video/photo in so that we can share them in our zoom meeting on Friday.

This week's challenge is to create 10 commandments or house rules for your family:
The 10 commandments were sent from God to help us live our lives. Learn about how they came about and then set your own1 0 commandments for your family. We watched ‘God’s Story: Ten Commandments and the Golden Calf’ on You Tube (https://youtu.be/aX28nAB4S7A). This explained how Moses was given the 10 commandments. To read the commandments look in the Bible at Exodus 20. These rules were given to us by God to show us how to treat each other, how to love God and how to be part of his team. Rules are important as they help to make our lives better and allow us to live in a world where we look after one another. As a family create 10 commandments for your home, particularly for this period of lockdown when you are spending so much time together. Your 10 commandments might include, putting your toys away after playing, always saying please and thank you or saying one nice thing about each other every day.
5 March 2021
Last night was a really fun night for our Anchors and Juniors. It was all about cars. We saw Carl and Di on time trials racing around their school hall (well done Di for winning). We also watched a video of hot wheels cars going around tracks that were a mile long and finally we had our own hot wheels race. Congratulations to Daniel who won the race. Following on from this our challenge foe the week is to make racing using the following instructions:
Build a racing car from a toilet tube ready to race around the home. Perfect to celebrate the return of Formula 1 racing.
1) Colour or paint a toilet roll tube. This will be the body of your car so think about what colours and patterns you wish to use.
2) Ask a grown-up to carefully cut a small hole in the top of the car. This will be where your racing driver (Lego figure) can sit.
3) Attach four wheels to the car. The best thing to use is bottle tops, but you could cut out a piece of cardboard. If a grown-up is able to, then you could make a hole into each bottle top and connect the wheels using cocktail sticks so they roll, alternatively just stick or glue these on to the tube. Once designed and built, build a race track out of toys and then race your car around, just like they do in F1 Racing.
Ask a grown p to email a picture of your car to Les so that we can share it at next week’s meeting.
26 February 2021
Challenge for Anchors and Juniors for next week:
Use colourful vegetables to create a person, animal or monster - one that’s good enough to eat! Ask a grown-up what vegetables you can use and then use cocktail sticks to bring all the body parts together. You may need to cut some vegetables up. Ask a grown-up to help you with this. Here are some examples of what you could make or be original and make your own:
Mr Potato Head: Use the potato as the face and then you could attach small tomatoes as eyes, broccoli as hair, cut pepper as a mouth, mushroom as a nose, carrots as ears.
Cucumber Person: Use slices of cucumber to form a body, carrot sticks as arms and legs, a slice of tomato for a face, grated carrot for hair. This one you could eat straight after making!
Don’t have cocktail sticks? Lay the vegetable pieces on a plate and create your vegetable person on there instead.
Once you have finished ask a grown-up to take a photograph and send it to Les (l.eyers@sky.com) so that we can look at them in next week’s meeting.

Zoom meetings went well tonight. Anchors and Juniors played a detective game and tried drawing pictures on paper that was on top of their head - some of the drawings were actually recognisable! They have also been set a challenge of "Don't drop a thing". This involves creating an obstacle course at home and seeing how many objects they can carry while moving through the course.
The older boys had a quiz and looked at the differences between banter and bullying.
